Who it’s for — Every private and commercial vehicle owner in Ghana — from a single family car to a fleet of trucks. Comprehensive suits newer or financed vehicles; third-party suits older vehicles where legal compliance is the priority.

What does comprehensive motor cover include?

Comprehensive cover protects your own vehicle as well as your liability to others. It pays for accidental damage to your car, fire, theft and attempted theft, and damage you cause to other people's vehicles, property or person. Optional extensions include excess protection, personal accident for the driver, and an authorised replacement vehicle.

What is third-party motor insurance?

Third-party is the minimum cover the law requires. It pays for injury or death you cause to other people and damage you cause to their property, but it does not pay for damage to your own vehicle. It is the most affordable way to drive legally, and you can upgrade to comprehensive at any time.

How do I make a motor claim?

Report the incident to the nearest Provident branch or our claims line as soon as possible, ideally within 48 hours. Obtain a police report for accidents, theft or third-party injury, then submit your completed claim form with photos and your policy details. See our Claims pages for the full checklist.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is motor insurance compulsory in Ghana?
Yes. The law requires at least valid third-party motor insurance for every vehicle used on a public road. Driving without it is an offence.
What is the difference between third-party and comprehensive?
Third-party pays only for damage and injury you cause to others. Comprehensive adds protection for your own vehicle against accident, fire and theft.
How is my comprehensive premium calculated?
It is based mainly on the insured value of your vehicle, its use and its age. Our estimator uses an indicative rate to show a figure instantly; a Provident agent confirms the firm premium.
Can I pay my premium in instalments?
Premium payment options vary by policy. Speak to a Provident agent or visit any branch to discuss a plan that suits you.
