What does cash-in-transit insurance cover?
CIT covers loss of insured money by theft, robbery or other accidental cause while in transit in the custody of authorised employees — typically on bank runs — and while held at your premises during and after business hours, including in a locked safe. Separate limits are set for money in transit and money on the premises.
Why the carrying conditions matter
Cover is conditioned on money being carried by a stated number of authorised, able-bodied employees, and on cash being kept in a locked safe overnight. Meeting these simple security conditions keeps the cover valid and the premium efficient. Higher transit limits may call for additional escorts.
