What does a CAR policy cover?

Contractors All Risk combines two sections. The material damage section covers the permanent and temporary works, materials and (optionally) plant against accidental damage from causes such as fire, flood, storm, collapse and faulty execution. The third-party liability section covers your legal liability for injury or property damage to others arising from the works. Cover can include the principal, contractor and sub-contractors.

Who should arrange Contractors All Risk?

Either the project owner (employer) or the main contractor can take out CAR, and most construction contracts in Ghana require it. A single project policy, or an annual policy for smaller works, keeps every party on site protected for the build period and the maintenance phase.
